I didn’t ease into New Creation prayer: I didn’t study my way into it, or slowly evolve toward it. In fact I had never even heard of New Creation, much less New Creation Prayer.
For me, everything changed in an instant – an almost indescribable moment – when the Holy Spirit revealed my true identity, in Christ. It wasn’t emotional hype. It wasn’t a dramatic encounter, it was a life altering revelation. A knowing. A sudden, clear awareness: “I am not who I used to be”.
At once, I knew the very substance of my being was Christ. Jesus was no longer in a place I imagined called Heaven, he was in me, and I in him. We were united, there was no longer a separation.
In that split second, something shifted in my spirit. I realized I was already in Christ, had never not been. I was already accepted, already seated with Him, already a new creation. Because of that, my entire relationship with prayer shifted instantly. As a matter of fact, I stopped praying all together.
I didn’t formally pray for a while after that. Not because I didn’t want to talk to God, but because I was suddenly aware that He was already intertwined with every part of my being. Where was I going to pray to….I wasn’t reaching up anymore. I was responding to the Christ who lives within me.
It took time —more time than I expected — to begin walking, much less standing in the authority of my ‘sonship’. Old habits don’t disappear overnight, even whe revelation hits instantly. My mind had to catch up with what my spirit already knew. I am in Christ and Christ is in me.
WHAT NEW CREATION PRAYER MEANT FOR ME
- It meant I stopped performing in No more striving, begging or pleading.
No more prayers like an orphan hoping to be heard.
I BECAME AWARE OF MY POSITION AS A CHILD OF GOD
- It meant prayer became a conversation, not a
Because God wasn’t out there anymore He was present in me.
(Just like He is in you!)
- It meant Identity became the starting point for every conversation with God.
Everything flowed from who He said I was, not what I felt like on any given day
- It meant authority wasn’t something I reached for — it was something I already had.
Still I had to learn to walk in it.
That lesson took time.
THE SHIFT FROM “OLD ME” PRAYER TO NEW CREATION PRAYER
Old me prayed from insecurity:
“God, please be with me…please hear me…please help me…”
Old me prayed from desperation. New Creation me prayer from union.
Old me prayed trying to become something. New Creation me prays because I already am.
New Creation me prays from identity: “Father, thank You for lifting the veil and that I might see,
Thank you for giving me ears that hear the depth of your word.
Thank You that your Spirit guides me”
Slowly—sometimes painfully slowly—I learn to walk in Sonship.
Though the authority has been mine all along, I am still maturing into it.
THE HEART OF NEW CREATION PRAYER
New Creation prayer is not fancy, loud, dramatic, or complicated.
It’s simple:
Pray from who God says you are, not who you used to be.
Pray from victory, not toward it.
Pray from union, not for it.
Pray with Christ in you not to Christ far away.
SAY UNTO THIS MOUNTAIN
When examining the miracles of Jesus, the healings, the raising from the dead, even the turning water into wine, He didn’t beg God to intercede, He didn’t employ long prayers or fancy words, he simply spoke the truth he walked in.
When he talked to his disciples about moving the mountain, he didn’t direct them to beg God to move the mountain, he simply told them to speak to it. The key of course to that instruction was not to doubt.
Doubt, though a seemingly small thing, has profound implications. The word itself comes from a french word that means double.
If you doubt, you are entertaining an alternative outcome to what you’ve spoken. How many times in prayer have we thought, if not said, “God, if it’s not your will…” filling in the blank with your alternative outcome.
So clearly, faith is required. The word ‘Faith’ in Greek is Pistis, a word that means certainty. So what New Creation prayer must have is certainty.
MATTHEW 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, if you have faith and doubt not,
… you shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea it shall be done. KJV
MARK 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. KJV
THE PRAYER OF IDENTITY
New Creation prayer isn’t something I’ve MASTERED. It’s something I’m growing into day by day, moment by moment. The old voices of striving still try to speak, but they are quieter now. The voice of the Father has become louder, clearer and more natural.
The beauty of this kind of prayer is that it’s not about getting God to move. It’s about learning to move with Him.
It’s not about trying to earn access. It recognizes the access Jesus already secured.
It’s not about becoming worthy, It’s embracing the worth He has given.
At its core, New Creation prayer is simply this:
Praying from who God says you are, from who He is in you, and when you pray from identity, everything changes, your confidence, your perspective, and even the way you see the world around you.
Blessings and love to you all as you enjoy this special holiday season.
